Tommy E McLain
Tommy E McLain joined us as a guest musician at Unity of Dothan’s Sunday services in 2002, when we were still meeting at 2323 W. Main St. He was introduced to us by Don Pegg, who knew Tommy through 12 step programs. Tommy delighted our congregation with his own original songs, as well as his wonderful rendition of music by The Beatles, Neil Diamond, Daniel Nahmod, and other new thought musicians.
Tommy was a keyboard player, guitarist, and wonderful vocalist whose voice was deep, smooth, and resonant. When asked if he had voice training, his reply was “No, it just came with the package.” He delighted us with his musical talents until his job with Pemco relocated him to Central Florida about 2012. His plan was to relocate to Dothan upon his retirement in 2015 and continue music with Unity.
However, his passing in 2014 did not bring that plan to fruition. We all loved his original songs “Good Enough For God”, “In God’s Hands”, “Alive Again Today” and many, many others that live on in our hearts and memory. His singing of “Imagine” would rival John Lennon’s!! We miss you Tommy E. McLain and you are not forgotten! We love you!
